Grappling Beyond Borders

About Grappling Beyond Borders

Grappling Beyond Borders (GBB) provides young asylum seekers in the UK with trauma-informed support, community and self-defence through martial arts.

The Current Refugee Crisis in the UK

The policies and general attitude by this UK government deeply affects vulnerable asylum seekers fleeing persecution, including victims of torture, domestic violence, and gender-based violence. Asylum seekers embark on treacherous journeys, often risking their lives to seek safety and protection in a new land. Tragically, their struggles do not end upon arrival. Instead, they are confronted with a hostile environment that places them in limbo for extended periods, without the right to work or access to adequate support. This situation leaves them feeling helpless and vulnerable, exacerbating the trauma they have endured. Urgent attention is needed to address the plight of these asylum seekers, ensuring they are provided with compassionate and efficient processes to access safety, support, and the chance to rebuild their lives with dignity.

Our Mission

Grappling Beyond Borders (GBB) provides young asylum seekers in the UK with trauma-informed support, community and self-defence through martial arts.

About us

We are driven to create a safe environment where asylum seekers are provided with a welcoming community, learning new skills and feeling empowered
